Out for the summer? Dubai Police's security service recommends you do this

While Dubai is safe, Dubai Police is urging residents to protect their homes while they’re away over the summer. This can be done by registering for the home security service, a programme that launched 16 years ago and has helped reduce the rate of home robberies. In fact, they’ve previously said that villas registered for the service haven’t been robbed.

How to register?
There are three ways homeowners can register for the service:

  1. The first is through the Dubai Police website.
  2. Alternatively, they can use the smartphone app.
  3. Or, they can fill out a form at the customer service centre of any police station.

In addition to the above, Lt Col Rashid Al Falasi, director of the Criminal Control at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, has asked residents to:

  1. Deposit money and valuables in banks.
  2. Park their cars in closed garages.
  3. Ask friends to regularly check homes for problems including electrical damages or water leaks.
  4. Have doors and windows electronically locked as they are difficult to open.
