Following the death of a four-year-old girl who tragically died from heat exhaustion after being trapped on a school bus, a joint committee from the Ministry of Education and Emirates Transport are adopting a smart system for students' safety on all school buses in Dubai and the northern areas.
Three advanced devices will be used to combat human error
- A student's identification card will be issued to ensure parents can track their children while on the bus.
- A second device will ensure each bus is empty at the end of a journey.
- A third device will detect motion on a bus after it is closed. This one will emit loud alert sounds, as well as instructions for students left behind in the bus.
Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Hammadi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education said the initiative would help provide the technological methods to enable the operation centres to track school buses and confirm their compliance with the rules and legislations, according to Wam.ae
Between August and October of this year, 2,345 devices will be installed according to a report.
Full implementation will start in November, it will service the 100,000 students in 383 government schools in Dubai and the northern areas.
