UAE Weather: Heavy Rains And Thunderstorms Forecast

Residents in the UAE can expect mixed weather conditions today, Monday. The day will start with partly cloudy skies, keeping temperatures relatively mild. However, as the day progresses, wet weather is on the horizon, with thunderstorms and heavy rain expected across all Emirates, as forecasted by the Met Department and the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM warns of downpours, lightning, and thunder in various parts of the country on 4 March, Monday and 5 March, Tuesday. Wind speeds of up to 50kph are expected, carrying dust and sand and reducing visibility on roads. Conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are forecasted to be rough.

On Monday, temperatures in internal regions of the country are forecasted to experience maximum temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C. Coastal areas and islands will see highs of 20°C to 25°C, while mountainous regions will have cooler temperatures ranging from 11°C to 17°C. The lowest temperature recorded this morning was 7°C at Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at midnight.

As per the recent weather update on NCM's social channels, light rain in Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah was recorded this morning between 8am and 8.30am.

When it comes to weather on Tuesday, the NCM forecasts continued dusty and cloudy conditions with scattered rainfall, accompanied by moderate to fresh southeasterly winds becoming northwesterly, reaching speeds of 15kph to 30kph and up to 50kph over the sea. The sea is expected to be rough to moderate.

By Wednesday, the weather is expected to improve slightly with fair to partly cloudy conditions and intermittent dustiness, giving way to more clouds and rainfall by Thursday morning, particularly in southern and coastal western areas.

Winds are anticipated to be light to moderate, mainly northwesterly to northeasterly, with the sea ranging from slight to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
