Great news for people in the UAE! Harees, a beloved traditional dish in the Emirates, has earned a special spot on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Harees is a porridge-like dish enjoyed for breakfast and dinner, especially during important family events like weddings and significant holidays, as well as during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) proudly shared that Harees is now officially recognised by UNESCO. This recognition, achieved with collaboration from Saudi Arabia and Oman, is the 15th element from the UAE to join UNESCO's prestigious lists.

The journey began in 2010 with falconry's inclusion. Now, Harees takes its place, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the UAE.
