Additional Category To Unemployment Scheme

All public and private companies, including employees working in freezones and semi-government organisations, now need to apply for the unemployment insurance scheme under a separate category called 'Non-Registered in MOHRE'.

Applying to the scheme can be done by adding the individual's Emirates ID number as well as their phone number.

A notice added to the ILOE website stated that employees working in freezones and semi-government organisations need to register under the category.

Announced in October 2022 and available to the public since 1 January, the mandatory scheme offers employees protection if terminated from their job.

The scheme provides employees with 60% of their monthly salary for up to three months from losing their job.

With two subscriptions available, individuals with a salary of Dhs 16,000 and lower have to pay Dhs 5 per month as the insurance cost.

People with salaries higher than Dhs 16,000 will have an insurance cost of Dhs 10 a month, with compensations given up to Dhs 20,000 per month.

The deadline for the scheme for all employees is set till 30 June and can be applied through the ILOE website. Employees that have not registered by the deadline will be fined Dhs 400.
