Animal adventures: Giraffe feeding

In addition to a host of animal experiences, you can make a new long-legged friend at Al Ain Zoo. The tallest animals on the planet are trained to respond to bell rings at feeding time and the high station will bring you closer to the loving giraffe family. Remember to wave your carrots and lettuce leaves to see the giraffe’s 45cm long tongue! This is available daily from 11am to 1pm and from 4pm to 7pm and is priced at Dhs 30. Visit www.alainzoo.ae.

Another world

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo has another exhilarating underwater experience with the Shark Scooter. Like a personal miniature submarine, this takes you deep below the surface of the aquarium in a self-contained scooter-like vehicle. Guided by an expert instructor, riders will propel themselves using the electric motor, allowing them to gracefully venture throughout the main aquarium tank like never before. The bubble helmet provides excellent visibility, whilst the design of the one and two-person scooters offers a safe and comfortable ride. Available daily at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm the price of Dhs 500 includes entry to the aquarium and a back of house tour. Minimum age is 10 years and minimum height is 150cm.
