Travel tips with kids

With summer right around the corner, most of you will have started planning your holiday trips away. Anyone who has travelled with children before will know that this can be quite the feat. Here are a few items that can make your life (and holiday) a little easier.

One amazing product that will put mothers’ minds to ease is a Bluetooth device inserted in colourful wristbands with a range of 100 metres. It connects to your smartphone and acts like eyes in the back of your head as it signals an alarm when the Bluetooth disconnects, warning you that your child has wandered off too far. It also has a few more awesome features like a panic button for the child to communicate back to you which will signal a ‘panic alarm’ on your phone and it alerts you that your child needs you. Another fantastic feature is that you can connect up to six Bluetooth devices to one phone and personalise each device. This device is known as the Buddy Tag. And did I mention that these awesome devices can be used on your pets too? The settings on the app, which you get to download for free, allows you to choose between a boy, a girl, a cat or a dog symbol and add their names too.

A personalised movie DVD is perfect to entertain your child for about 25 minutes. It is an animated movie starring…your child! The software has the ability to crop the child’s face and insert it into the movie so they become the hero or princess. This offers guaranteed peace and quiet and definitely a boost of self-esteem while you pack for your trip.

Another great help to mothers planning trips is the Label Itz. These silicon bands can be personalised using a ball point pen and are used for pretty much anything. Their initial use was for tagging baby bottles and sippy cups and allowing parents to communicate their child’s allergy or intolerance, but because these bands are quite flexible, you can tag water bottles, juice containers, small Tupperware and even forks and spoons. How does that help? Try packing for two children with the same princess bottles, the same pink spoons and oh the same lunch box! I know… what happened to individuality right? But kids are kids and when you are rushing to get out of the house you will not have time for a 45-minute debate as to why she gets to be the ballerina instead of the princess today. You can also tag lunchboxes, luggage, carry-on bags, and strollers too.

Now for the fun bit! Why not try personalised music or personalised movies? Music CDs that sing your child’s name over 80 times in fun and educational tunes are a great idea. With over 40,000 names in secured software in 10 different languages and 13 different English albums, your child will feel special listening to the songs sung in his/her name. With the ‘Wake Up’ song, you get to choose between six different alarm clocks and the song can be downloaded with your child’s name to the clock. The clock will go off in the morning singing your child’s name. The clock is very useful during the holidays because it gets the children to stay in bed longer. How? I tell my girls they cannot get out of bed until they hear their song from the clock. Who doesn’t like a few extra snooze minutes in the morning?
