It’s Father’s Day this month, but forget the socks and ties this year and let the kids loose in the kitchen. They can make him feel like a king with this yummy, child-friendly recipe… made just for Dad.

Makes

12-15

Ingredients

125 grams (4½ oz) unsalted butter
175 grams (6 oz) self-raising flour
75 grams (2½ oz) confectioner’s sugar (icing sugar)
25 grams (1 oz) cornstarch (corn flour)
250 grams (9oz) dark chocolate chopped into pieces
2 non-stick baking trays
Piping bag with large star shaped nozzle

Method

Preheat oven 190C (375F) (Gas 5). Lightly grease the baking trays. In a mixing bowl beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Sift the flour and cornstarch into the bowl and mix until smooth and thoroughly combined. Next melt 75 grams (2¼ oz) of chocolate and beat into the biscuit mixture. Prepare the piping bag and spoon in the mixture. Pipe 10cm long fingers onto the prepared baking trays, slightly spaced apart to allow for spreading. Bake in pre-heated oven on middle shelf for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Transfer biscuits to a wire rack. Place remaining chocolate into a heatproof bowl and melt either in a microwave on a low setting or over a pan of simmering water. Dip both ends of the biscuit into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl. Place on baking parchment and leave to set before serving.

Bon appétit!
