All residents in Dubai should be covered with health insurance. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has set a deadline on Friday 31st March to all working residents to get insured with at least the basic health insurance or the sponsor will incur some fines. If you sponsor a driver or maid in Dubai and they're not covered with basic health insurance, then you'll be fined for every month they're not insured. This applies if you sponsor your wife, husband or child - for every month they're not covered, you'll be fined. The Dubai Essential Benefits plan is now offered by 12 insurers in the UAE with prices ranging from Dhs 550 to Dhs 650 for a year's worth of cover.
