My first trip to the dentist

Generally it is recommended that children have their first dental check-up before their first birthday. However I decided to postpone until my daughter had a few more teeth.

What’s involved?
The visit was very short and involved very little treatment. During the visit Dr Anila checked my daughter’s teeth for any signs of decay, and her gums and bite were also examined. We discussed the toothbrush and toothpaste that we are using to establish if additional fluoride would be required. The fun part was when we counted her teeth as my husband and I were starting to lose count. This gave us an idea of when we can expect all of her teeth to be in. During the consultation Dr Anila also discussed important facts parents should know to help maintain good dental hygiene in their children.

Where do we go from here?
The next step is to make an appointment 6 months later as this is when, hopefully, your child will have all their baby teeth. From then on it is important to have regular check-ups to ensure your child maintains good oral health and prepares them for looking after their own teeth for the rest of their lives.

How much?
The treatment is priced at Dhs 250.
