REVIEW: KeraStraight Ultimate at Pastels Salon

After a long, hot, hectic summer, my hair had become dull and lifeless. Being a KeraStraight fan, I knew that was the answer if I was going to enjoy salon finished looking hair over the holidays. KeraStraight is a treatment that rebuilds and replaces the keratin that has been lost. It works both internally and externally on the hair, simultaneously repairing, straightening and nourishing. It is great for all hair types - dull, dry, damaged, curly, wavy or frizzy hair, and can even be used on coloured or permed hair. KeraStraight differs from other similar treatments in that the product does not contain Formaldehyde, it has no unpleasant side effects, (such as stinging or chemical odours), and there is no waiting time before you can wash your hair again.

The process

Gurly performed the treatment and started by washing my hair using a cleansing shampoo to help open the hair cuticles. After a pre-treatment spray, the KeraStraight formula was applied, covered and left on for 45 minutes. Following a quick blast-dry, my hair was again shampooed and dried, and then straighteners were used to seal in the product. At this stage I had the option of waiting 30 minutes before shampooing out at the salon, or doing it at home at my leisure within the next 2 or 3 days. I choose the latter. My hair is medium length and the process from start to finish took about 2 hours.

Verdict

Amazing! My hair is now looking incredibly healthy, sleek and shiny. What I love about KeraStraight is that it does not totally straighten your hair - I still have my natural wave but it is much more manageable. Best of all, the time consuming blow drying is cut from 45 minutes to 5 minutes! I can also just wash and go. Having had this treatment previously, I can vouch that it lasts for up to four months.
