1. Game of Thrones

This is the top of our list because WINTER IS HERE. While you wait for the next season of the show, invite your friends for a treat and brush up on your Dothraki speaking skills.

First off, send cool E-VITE memes or send out invitations written on parchment and sealed using sealing wax.

Decoration is key! The feel of the party must give out the popular series’ vibes and for so, have house banners divide the party area into kingdoms for food and beverages, games, photo booth, and an area where all of the episodes are playing on loop. You cannot go wrong with having DIY dragon eggs, dire-wolf plush toys and candles all around the party area.

Set up a photo booth themed props set, all the favourite and feared characters’ masks and make sure to build your own iron throne on which you and your friends can reign.

Just because it isn’t the most appetizing of shows, doesn’t mean this themed party cant have delicious treats. Think: Ned Stark cake, dragon eggs, themed cupcakes, just because its Christmas, it doesn’t mean you need to have turkey, roast what killed King Robert, Direwolf bread and themed cocktails to go along with everything.

Have themed games that you can play with your invited loyal friends and maybe even your bitter enemies and play darts with King Joffrey or order the Monopoly Game of Thrones Collector's Edition.

Make sure you dress up as Jon Snow with a fur coat or as Khaleesi with her long blonde hair.

2. Welcome to Whoville

A Grinch-themed party for those who like to do things the unconventional way. For this party think: everything of polka dots & stripes, pops of unexpected patterns like chevron, crazy shades of red & green & touches of whimsy

For Who-liday celebrations think dessert stands, colourful polka dot napkins and cutlery, banners and signs, and spruce up the room with green décor.

For sweet treats, you can have a dessert table displayed with Cindy Lou cupcakes, Jell-o, chocolate-dipped Rice Krispy treats and jars of candy filled colourful delights, and of course, Grinch cookies each with a heart.

For feasting, a Christmas cracker filled with candy, pudding, roast, and all the mean greens.

Just for fun, you can have someone dressed as Grinch who constantly pokes people out of the blue and makes the crowd laugh with his scrooge-ness.

3. Twelvetide

The décor can be simple yet cute, but the food should be festive and follow the 12 Days of Christmas theme. Groom the room with cutesy decorations, cut dove shapes from white paper and string them together with pretty ribbon to make a garland.

Pick up a plump partridge figure and surround it with garlands, berries, greenery, and pears for a spectacular party centrepiece.

You can also embellish the cupcakes with birds. And make sure to have the ring shaped butter cookies and customised with golden sprinkles. Serve your guests French style roasted Cornish game hens and/or a roasted Christmas goose for the main course and caramelised pears for dessert.

Have a cardboard cut out of the milking maiden and have milkshakes, ice cream, cheese. For the ladies dancing, call all the ladies on the floor for a contest while the men judge and choose a winner.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Since there’s an age-long debate about whether The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie along the lines of Halloween or Christmas celebration, put an end to it and show the guests the best of both world.

Have banners of both ‘Tis is Christmas and Hello Halloween on either side of the room. Make each sides contrasting with one giving out Christmas vibes and other dark and grunge looking.

Take out the decorations from Halloween that are just sitting and eating up space in the store room, serve punch in a Jack Skellington Pumpkin Bowl and put out doll and gingerbread cookies. Jack’s loyal ghost must be donned on a wall, emerging and scaring people from time to time. You can enhance the room with Sally’s Potion Bottles used as decoration on walls.

On the other side, with warm, fuzzy feelings, decorate the room with snowmen, snowflakes, twinkling lights and colourful baubles and serve ham, turkey, seafood, salads, roast chicken, stuffing, and cake/pudding.

5. Belsnickel Christmas

Celebrate Christmas with a twist! Have someone dress as Belsnickel, a crotchety, fur-clad Christmas gift-bringer figure in the German folklore. He decides if you’ve been impish or admirable. Wear torn, tattered, and dirty clothes, and carry a switch with which he beats naughty children, but also gives pocketful of cakes, candies, and nuts for good children.

If you have been admirable, you get candy treats and small gifts, but if you been impish, nothing but a lump of coal.

Feast on this German tradition with duck, goose, rabbit or a roast. And accompany this main dish with delicacies such as apple and sausage stuffing, red cabbage and potato dumplings.

For dessert, try to arrange the Lebkuchen, a heart-shaped gingerbread cookie decorated with intricate icing designs.
