UAE Bank Takes Inspiration From Shaggy To Create Awareness Against Online Fraud

UAE bank, Emirates NBD released a new video on Thursday, 27 June to create awareness among its customers of the dangers of online scams.

The video produced in partnership with Dubai Police, is of a rap recorded to the tune of the Shaggy hit 'It Wasn’t Me", with the lyrics tweaked to emphasise keeping personal information safe and not share with anyone online.

The video opens with a young man, probably a millennial, calling the bank manager to ask for his help. The young man looks worried and tells the manager that his account has been emptied and he doesn't know how he let it happen. The bank manager says, "By who?" at which point the young man replies, “By some guy pretending to be you”.

The video continues with the bank manager rapping and repeating ‘It wasn’t me’ in response to the customer’s  phrases such as “He messaged me on WhatsApp” and “He told me I won the lottery”.

To each statement the bank manager simply responds, “It wasn’t me.”

The video has received an overwhelming response for sending the message out in the best possible way creating a long lasting impression.

'It Wasn’t Me' was released in July 2000 and is one of Shaggy’s biggest hits.
