A Major Dhs 2 Billion Road Improvement Project Improved

The improvement of Dubai -Al Ain Road Project worth Dhs 2 billion has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Under this project, Dubai - Al Ain Road will be upgraded to six lanes from three in each direction over a 17km stretch. The work includes linking the road with other highways such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road and Emirates Road. Upon competition, the traffic intake on the road will increase from 6,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour.

The drive time from Emirates Road interchange to Oud Metha Street will be reduced by half, to eight minutes from the current sixteen minutes.

 “It will serve several development projects on both sides of the Dubai-Al Ain Road such as Meydan, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubailand Residential Complex, Liwan and Dubai Design District,” said HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The project is said to be completed in two phases. The first phase will be completed by the first half of 2020.
