A new road between Dubai and Sharjah will open by the end of June this year easing the traffic flow between the two emirates, announced Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The 12km street links Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, and runs parallel to the recently re-opened Airport Street Improvement Project.

The project once complete will contribute in reducing the traffic volumes by 30% between Dubai and Sharjah.

The new road will “streamline the access to Warqaa and Mirdif district.”

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA says, “It will also improve the traffic safety at the intersections with Rabat and Nad Al Hamar Streets nearby of Bel Remaitha Club.”

The project will act as a parallel to Al Amardi–Al Khawaneej as well as Al Awir–Ras Al Khor traffic corridors.
