Your little ones will be dazzled at the sight of Santa Claus soaring through the skies this weekend. Okay, it’s not really Santa Claus (spoiler alert) but it is just as magical. The “Christmas comet,” also known as 46P/Wirtanen will be visible throughout the UAE this weekend. The comet will be closer to Earth than it has been over the past 400 years and should be visible from 14-18 December.
The comet is 11.5 million kilometres away, however, it will be bright enough to be seen across the region. For the best viewing, avoid light pollution by heading out of the city and into the desert. We recommend places such as Al Qudra Lakes if you don’t want to venture too far!
