Old Library Finds New Home

The Old Library, which shut down four months ago, is back up and running in its new home. In an agreement with Emaar, the oldest English language library in the UAE has now moved to a new 150 square-metre building in Dubai’s Gold and Diamond Park.

It’s a relief for all members and volunteers who were not sure if their favourite library will open anytime soon. The Old Library lost its home in July when the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre closed its doors.

Michele Sadoon, Vice Chairwoman of the Old Library said, “We were really lucky with Emaar offering us a new place. It was a bit of an adventure to get to this point and we are really excited about it. We have 26,000 books and what usually happens is that half of those books are out on loan, but that wasn’t the case when we had to find a new home.”
