Abu Dhabi Influencer Fined Dhs 300,000 For Abusive Videos

Using abusive language online resulted in a Dhs 300,000 fine for a prominent social media influencer. The Abu Dhabi based male influencer was sentenced by the Abu Dhabi Court of Misdemeanours who also ordered him to pay Dhs 21,000 to the Emirati influencer, “Kashoona.” The man made abusive comments via video, in which he used inappropriate language against the influencer. He then confirmed that the video was real, which prompted Kashoona to file a complaint against him.

Kashoona’s lawyer said that accused’s behaviour damaged her client’s reputation, causing her physical and financial losses while severely affecting her popularity among her followers. The male influencer has been ordered to shut down his social media accounts for two months and charged with defamation.
