New Carriages For Dubai Metro

The National

The Dubai Metro is introducing new members to its fleet. 50 new carriages will be added to the metro after its new design proved a success. The carriages were tested on a 500 metre track in Poland and went off without a hitch. The Director General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority attended the tests where the train was tested at varying speeds as well as the safety system, electric propulsion, braking system and emergency stop checks.

The trains will arrive in Dubai from November this year, to be in use from October 2019 - in plenty of time for Expo 2020. The plan for introducing the fleet is to strengthen the current timings between trains. The new additions will give Dubai Metro a total of almost 700 trains.
