An Indian expat’s fortune turned overnight as he won the Millennium Millionaire, Dubai Duty Free Raffle draw worth $1 million on Tuesday 14 August.
The winner, J.I. Chacko, from Kerala in India, works in a pharmaceutical company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The 47-year-old, Indian expat has been buying the tickets for the past few years and was hoping to win one day.
"I've been waiting for this call from Dubai Duty Free for years since I started participating in the Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions. Thank you for conveying this extremely happy news”, said J.I. Chacko.
Beside the million dollar ticket, an additional four people won luxury cars and superbikes in the Finest Surprise draw.
Nawaf Mohammad Alnajdi, Kuwaiti national won a Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Peria Karuppan Chelliah Frederick, an Indian expat, won a Range Rover HSE.
Pushparaj Muniyoor, Indian expat, won a BMW S 1000 RR motorbike and Muhammad Maroof Soomro Pakistani expat won the BMW S 1000 R motorbike.
