Charges Against The Swedish Woman Detained In Dubai Dropped

Dubai has officially closed the case on the Swedish national detained in Dubai. By order of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, the woman was released and will face deportation. She was arrested when she attempted to enter the country using an expired Swedish passport and upon questioning, produced an Iranian passport. The officer then informed her that she could purchase a temporary visa for a 96-hour stay for an additional fee.

When the woman refused, became aggressive and began taking photographs of the immigration officer, she was then detained and taken into police custody upon charges of photographing a government official and using profanity. Both the woman and her 4-year old daughter were held in the airport security office for under 24-hours before the child left the country with her father.
