Students Can Now Get Part-Time Jobs

Nowadays, getting a job is just as much about experience as it is about your qualifications. Fresh graduates struggle to find full-time employment as many firms require an amount of work experience in order to consider a candidate. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has now issued a decree to help students have the opportunities to work paid part-time jobs during holidays. Students aged 15 and above will be able to join the workforce during their school breaks for up to three months at a time (subject to increase in unique cases.)

The students, both Emirati Nationals and non-Emirati, must be presented with a contract that adheres to the Ministry’s new regulations. In order to sign up for training and become employed, a student must have the following documents:

  • a written approval letter from the employer
  • a letter of consent from a parent or guardian
  • a copy of the students Emirates ID
  • proof of the student’s school attendance (showing that they are, in fact, a student)
  • a valid visa (for non-Emiratis)
  • a no-objection letter from the school
  • a certificate from a medical centre proving that the child is fit and able to work
