Emirates Is Setting A New Record With This Giant Project

It definitely doesn’t take a scientist to work out that growing crops in the desert is near impossible. However, Emirates Airlines are overcoming obstacles and defying the laws of physics - as well as gravity.

The airline has recently announced that it has plans to build the world’s biggest vertical farming facility. The 130,000 sqft farm will be located near Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central.

The intention behind the project is to reduce carbon emissions and water usages - with 99% less water being used than traditional farming methods.

The farm will produce 2,700 kg worth of vegetables a day for catering on Emirates flights.

The project is set to be completed by December of next year.
