Abu Dhabi Executive Committee Approves Cuts on Tourism Fees

It seems like prospective tourists as well as residents are in for a pleasant surprise as first Dubai and now Abu Dhabi has approved the proposal of a reduction in tourism and municipality fees in respective Emirates. The move aims to boost tourism in the UAE and to attract better investment opportunities. Further, a reduction in taxes is going to benefit the residents as dining out will be a little cheaper now.

Abu Dhabi Executive Committee, on Tuesday, approved a proposal to reduce tourism fees from 6 percent to 3.5 percent and municipality fees from 4 per cent to 2 per cent in bid to promote tourism in the Emirate. The committee also sanctioned a proposal to reduce municipality fees for hotel rooms to Dhs 10 per room from Dhs15 per room per night. Under the directive, the fees will be collected on half-yearly, instead of monthly basis.

Jassim Mohammed Buatabh Al Zaabi, Chairman of the committee emphasised the move will boost the tourism sector's development plan through world-class facilities that will make the emirate a leading tourist destination.
