A brand new high tech system has been unveiled by Dubai’ Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) that will have motorists more cautious when it comes to parking.
Utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Smart Scan System involves a vehicle, that will driven by RTA inspectors, which comes with an intelligent device built on top that can detect parking fee violators. With this new system, instead of having an inspector examine each vehicle by vehicle, and the possibility of human error, motorists that do not pay parking fees or those with expired tickets can now be detected more efficiently by the comfort of the Smart Scan System.
This innovation comes in part of UAE’s strategic plan for Artificial Intelligence and incorporating technology to provide only the best and productive services for the city. Expect to see the Smart Scan System across different zones in the city.
Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, added “It is imperative to introduce smart technologies to parking inspection activities, especially as the portion of e-parking tickets is increasingly on the rise, compared to paper tickets. The RTA is also undertaking several smart initiatives in support of the smart transformation covering parking systems and services.”
