Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road has turned red and here’s why

If you used Sheikh Zayed Road this weekend, you may have noticed something slightly different. In order to alert motorists about the speed limit changes, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) painted the road red.

The new colour has been implemented near the fifth interchange of Sheikh Zayed Road. The new speed limits have caused mass confusion on the roads - as well as a number of accidents.

The eye-catching colour of the road has been put into effect to increase the awareness of motorists and reduce the number of accidents on the roads.

This is the second time this method has been used, in June this year, the RTA also painted the asphalt of Oud Metha Street.
