In need of a mini-break, my husband and I took off to Al Raha Beach, Abu Dhabi - a 5-star hotel set in landscaped gardens along a stretch of white sandy beach on the Al Raha Corniche.
We had the pleasure of staying in the newly furnished wing, in one of the most luxurious suites I have every stayed in. With high floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beach and surrounding waterways, tasteful decor, the most comfortable bed you can imagine, and a huge bathroom with rainforest shower, and a luxury bathtub, I could have stayed in the room the entire visit.
But there was food to eat, and the food at Al Raha is remarkable! Sevilla restaurant offers buffet-style breakfast and lunch and the choices are endless. We sampled everything on offer from the array of international dishes, all of which were fabulous - my favourites being the Beef Wellington and the seafood paella, and my husband enjoyed the chicken biryani and roasted veal.
Although some of the beach is currently under construction, we relaxed in the pool and the beach areas that were available to us. We finished off our thoroughly indulgent day with a couple’s massage at Body & Soul Spa, followed by a therapeutic dip in the indoor Aquamedic pool.
Dinner was an intimate affair at La Piscina, nestled amidst the tropical gardens with live music and stunning beach views, where we enjoyed a variety of delicious, freshly prepared, Italian dishes.
Verdict: Loved the room, loved the food, loved the massage! We’ll be back!
