CONNECTOR chats to Nathalie Haddad

Founder and Managing Director of Right Bite Nutrition and Catering Services.

What brought you to do Dubai?

I grew up in Abu Dhabi and the UAE was my home, so it only made sense for me to start a business here. I started Right Bite in 2004 due to the demand from clients wanting to eat healthily yet struggling with choices and variety.

Describe a typical day

Honestly, I don’t really have a typical day! When I get to the office, I usually have a few meetings planned with my team to catch up on the operations and what we have going on as well as planning the next steps and strategy moving forward for my business. At times, I also have a few meetings with individuals from the industry and then have a bit of time to catch up on emails, to take a step back and evaluate the business and see what I need to do personally for work. Time usually flies and there are never enough hours in the day to get everything done!

How did you get into this profession?

I was always interested in the medical field and nutrition and dietetics was one way of helping individuals stay healthy and prevent many of the common diseases we face today such as diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure etc. I completed my degree in nutrition and dietetics and started my career as a dietitian counselling individuals on a one on one basis. Based on the demand from my clients and trends at that time, I felt that there was a need for a personalised healthy meal delivery service and this is how the business started.

What is the best thing about your job?

Two things I have to say…Firstly and most importantly, is the difference we make in the lives of our customers on a daily basis whether they are losing weight, feeling healthier, getting more energised and achieving their target goals.

Secondly, when I take a step back and look at my team and see how great they all are and how well we have done internally and how much we have achieved thus far as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary and hope to achieve much more in the coming decade!

And the worst?

Other than not having enough hours in the day to do everything that I would like to with my team and my business, there really isn’t a bad side to my job; I feel very blessed and grateful.

What was a standout moment in your career?

Every year we have our annual staff party whereby we take a step back and look at everything we have achieved as a team that year…and each year it somewhat catches me by surprise how much we have accomplished!

What advice would you have for any young person wanting to get into your field?

Remember to work hard, think big and start small! That’s the advice I once got and always remember to chase your dreams.
