What better way to start the New Year than with resolutions that will help improve the appearance of your largest organ - your skin?

To help you give your precious skin that extra attention it deserves after a busy holiday season, Jergens brand ambassador and skincare expert, Dr Seema, shares her New Year, New Skin Resolutions that will help keep your skin looking beautiful:

• Don't neglect dry/damaged skin: In addition to maintaining a balanced and vitamin enriched diet to boost the health of your skin, do not forget to moisturise, especially those dry skin areas. You should use an intense moisturiser that protects your skin from dryness.

• Practice a regular skin routine: Dedicate time to looking after your precious skin by keeping a regular skincare routine that should always include the following vital steps: gentle exfoliation, cleansing, toning and moisturising.

• Get more beauty sleep: While our minds may drift off into dreamland, our bodies will work all night long to repair each day's worth of damage.

• Treat your hands with care: While we may pay large attention to the skin on the rest of our body, our hands are equally as important. Our hands are exposed to a number of the same elements that our faces deal with every day and so should not be neglected. Try to keep a hand cream available at the places where you spend most of your time, for example in your bag, by your bedside, at the office or in your car.

You will notice a dramatic difference by making new commitments to your skincare regime. So, as you settle into the New Year, follow a few simple steps and help improve the appearance of your skin.
